Honda engines are tough, and building them that way takes skilled associates and lots of equipment. That's why Honda has invested more than $1.6 billion at the Anna plant alone. One reason is the vastness of the operations. Aluminum ingots, iron and other raw materials head into separate aluminum casting and ferrous foundries to start the production process for engine blocks and heads, cam shafts, crank shafts, drive shafts, cylinder sleeves and brakes. The Anna Engine Plant has annual capacity to supply more than 1.1 million V-6 and four-cylinder engines for the Honda Accord Sedan, Accord Coupe, Accord Crosstour, Element, Civic, Civic SI, CR-V and Ridgeline, as well as the Acura TL, RDX, MDX, CSX and ZDX. Anna's newest customer is the Honda Manufacturing of Indiana plant that opened in 2008.
